Education Alliance Announces Program for Building Charter's Capacity for English Learners (BCC) >>
BCC is a National Professional Development Program project for content-area teachers in Massachusetts charter schools, offered by The Education Alliance at Brown University. The program's goal is to develop the capacity of content-area teachers in Massachusetts charter schools to provide meaningful, rigorous, data-driven instruction to English language learners.

Grant Opportunity for High Schools Commited to Raising Achievement Through Content Literacy >>
The Trustees of the Arthur Vining Davis Foundations have approved a grant to help fund the Collaboratory for Adolescent Literacy Leaders (CALL) program at The Education Alliance at Brown University. The CALL is a two–year professional development program for high school teachers of core academic subjects–math, science, social studies/history, and English/language arts. The program will prepare teams of content-area teachers to integrate literacy instruction into the subjects they teach and improve the achievement of their students. It also builds school leadership capacity by developing content literacy expertise and leadership in the core content area."

The Alliance was well represented at this year's Annual Conference of the American Evaluation Association (AEA). Held November 10–13 in San Antonio, Texas, over 2,500 evaluators and practitioners from education, health, labor, social services and other areas shared their work and ideas around the theme of Evaluating with Validity.
