Diverse learners often end up in classes or tracks in which the curriculum and materials are not adequately challenging or engaging. We work with schools to ensure that all students are held to high standards and have access to challenging academic materials and programs. We also work to ensure that schools' curriculum and materials engage diverse learners by appropriately addressing a diverse array of cultures, backgrounds, and learning styles.
Our specialists do this by engaging teachers and administrators to review curriculum and materials using an equity-focused review protocol. Together, we study the curriculum to examine: the presence or absence of representations of diverse cultures; the accuracy of those representations; and whether the curriculum is rigorous for all students. Based on this review, we make specific recommendations for improvement and suggest relevant resources.
