Scaffolding Instruction in the General Education Classroom

In general education classrooms, English language learners (ELLs) need scaffolded instruction from general education teachers in the content areas to help them access the material. As the ELL population increases, and as ELLs move to districts in which teachers have traditionally been unprepared to teach them, many schools find that teachers need professional development in how to shelter instruction.

Our specialists deliver job-embedded professional development to general education teachers about evidence-based instructional strategies they can use to both activate ELLs' prior knowledge and assist ELLs to access the curriculum.
