Professional Learning Services
Our professional learning services build capacity to implement planned improvements at the state, district or school level. They include: structured professional development offerings, using a variety of formats and delivery mechanisms; supports for educator networks and ways of using technology to engage educators in collaborative learning; and monitoring of program delivery to ensure fidelity to design and effectiveness of implementation.
We prepare teachers and leaders to work with highly diverse student populations. We offer a Master’s Degree in English as a Second Language and Cross-Cultural Studies, as well as extensive professional development for all educators who work with ELLs. We also support networks of deans and directors of teacher education programs, superintendents and principals to link higher education and K–12 in dialogue and coordinated action.
We work with educators, parents and community-based leaders who seek to improve educational conditions for students, teachers, and communities.
Service offerings include:
- Alliance Collaboratories
Our online and face-to-face professional development offerings use a range of strategies to engage educators in job-related learning that, while grounded in research, invites direct application to practice.
- Support for Educator Networks
We convene and provide institutional support for networks of educators who come together to problem-solve and share expertise. - Technology Tools in Support of Collaboration
We create online learning environments that can support sustained interactions that are not bounded by limitations of geography or daily schedule. - Coursework and Workshops on Culturally Responsive Teaching Practice
We provide a range of professional development opportunities to help teachers and administrators develop cultural competence and culturally responsive teaching practices.
