Support for Educator Networks
The Education Alliance convenes and provides institutional support for networks
of educators to come together and problem-solve, share expertise, and discuss
emerging trends. Current network support includes:
- Northeast Superintendents Leadership Council (SLC): a network for
superintendents, driven by superintendents. The Council consists of superintendents
from throughout New England, who meet on a regular basis. The SLC provides
a place where these leaders can move beyond theory and discuss reform issues
in an experiential realm. The SLC sponsors an Institute every spring in Newport, RI.
- Collaborative Alliance Network (CAN): a network of higher education
deans and department chairs, superintendents and principals that focuses
on strengthening the linkage between pre-service and in-service teacher
training. The focus of CAN is two-fold: to prepare quality educators and to create greater
diversity in the education profession.
CAN co-sponsors a "Conversation Series" with The Metro Center at New York
University.
