English language learner curriculum audits continue in New York State

English Language Learner Curriculum Audits Continue in New York State The Education Alliance, partnered with Learning Point Associates (LPA), is completing work on the New York State English Language Learner (ELL) Curriculum Audit in four New York State districts: Utica, Newburgh, Poughkeepsie, and Mt. Vernon. The Alliance has been working with our partners at Learning Point Associates (LPA) and American Institutes of Research (AIR) to refine a data-feedback process designed to help these districts use curriculum audit data to build on their strengths in addressing challenges to instruction and learning for ELLs. As audit activities in these four districts conclude, the Alliance is preparing for the site visit phase of ELL curriculum audits of five geographical districts in New York City. The Alliance will be conducting more than 400 teacher interviews and observations in 65 New York City public schools as well as 70 administrator interviews and 10 parent focus groups. Alliance staff members are currently modifying the audit process to make it more appropriate to the new initiatives and organizational structures of the New York City school system.
