Collaborative Alliance Network Conversation on June 19, 2008

The fourth and final in a series of conversations, titled "Increasing Diversity within the Education Profession," took place at the Faculty Club at Brown University on Thursday, June 19, 2008. The speaker for this event was Mica Pollock, Ph.D., associate professor of education at Harvard University. In Dr. Pollock's presentation, "Professional Development: Educating Educators on Issues of Race," she discussed findings from a new book in which 65 experts outline concrete antiracist strategies for use in the typical classroom.

Dr. Pollock is an anthropologist of education, and studies how youth and adults struggle daily to discuss and address issues of racial difference, discrimination, and fairness in school and community settings.
