The Alliance announces a series of webinars to inform education leaders
A new webinar series, hosted by The Education Alliance, is designed to bring information, solutions and resources to busy education leaders and provide a platform for professional sharing and problem-solving. This series of one-hour, online sessions will feature current, timely and practical information on a range of priority topics in a convenient format.
Two sessions have been scheduled:
Adolescent Literacy—Key to Raising Student Achievement in the Content Areas
Wednesday, May 20, 2009; 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. (Eastern)
Students cannot meet standards in the content areas without strong literacy skills. Yet, content area educators traditionally have not been trained to teach literacy. A number of schools have found success in meeting this challenge. Hear about what's working, why, and resources available for you.
Ensure That Your Improvement Efforts Are Systemic, Strategic, and Sustainable: The Strategic Mapping Process
Wednesday, June 10, 2009, 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. (Eastern)
You have a district improvement plan, your schools have school improvement plans, and there is a district strategic plan. However, how confident are you that those plans directly and systemically address the issues and challenges that might be impeding student achievement? Join us for this introduction to the strategic mapping process and to tools for facilitating the process in your own district and schools.

Recordings of these webinars will be made available on our web site following each live session. While we encourage you to register and participate in the live sessions so that your own questions and issues can be addressed directly, you may find it valuable to share the recordings with colleagues in follow-up conversations and planning sessions.
Future topics for these briefings will respond to the shifting education funding and issues landscape, and will be selected based on emerging needs.
