Quarterly Network Meetings – Integration of School Improvement and ELL Support Strategies

June 2006 Network Meeting
On June 1-2, 2006, The Education Alliance held its second Regional Network Meeting at the National Association of Elementary School Principals Offices in Alexandria, Virginia. Meeting participants included state education leaders representing Title I, School Improvement, and Title III/English Language Learners from over six states. The goal of this second Regional Network Meeting was to provide an opportunity for state education leaders to explore the various assumptions (theories of action) upon which SEA strategies are based, to share information on high priority issues, and to discuss how SEAs are developing cross-departmental expectations, structures and practices that focus on the needs of ELLs. During the meeting, participants engaged in a set of facilitated activities and discussions intended to explore the assumptions behind state-level approaches for supporting district and school improvement efforts.
