Northeast and the Islands Regional Educational Technology Consortium 2000-2005 (NEIRTEC)

The Northeast and the Islands Regional Technology in Education Consortium (NEIRTEC) focused on helping educational leaders at the state, district, and school levels put technology to effective use in schools, placing particular emphasis on the needs of schools in underserved urban and rural communities. It was a collaboration of Education Development Center, Inc. (EDC), TERC, Learning Innovations at WestEd, and The Education Alliance at Brown University. It was one of the ten regional technology in education consortia funded by the U.S. Department of Education.

NEIRTEC helped educational leaders:

NEIRTEC served individual leaders and leadership teams, Regional Service Centers, and State Technology Directors and other technology leaders in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, Vermont, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The Education Alliance's NEIRTEC work involved strategic planning/consultation and development of Knowledge Loom spotlights. The two spotlights that specifically target technology are Good Models of Teaching with Technology and Technology Leadership.
