The Education Alliance, with the Northwest Regional Educational Laboratory and the Smaller Learning Communities (SLC) program of the U. S. Department of Education, works to implement small school strategies in large high schools and within school districts. This is part of a federal initiative focused on personalizing high schools.
The three organizations plan and conduct annual, regional Project Directors’ meetings and institutes; conduct on-site monitoring of grantees to identify best practices, ensure accountability, and provide site-based technical assistance; conduct follow-up visits and limited technical assistance; and provide high-need and high-risk grantees more intensive support and assistance through an external assistance provider.
