The Beginning of a New Cycle for the New England Equity Assistance Center >>

Picture of the NEEAC teamThe Education Alliance at Brown University has been granted a 1.7 million dollar three-year award from the US Department of Education to continue to operate the New England Equity Assistance Center (NEEAC). The NEEAC is one of ten regional programs, formerly known as Desegregation Assistance Centers, created under the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Brown’s NEEAC has a 15-year history of responding to discrimination related requests from federal, state and local government agencies, and technical assistance providers.

Leadership Academy in Cultural Competency to Launch this Fall >>

The Education Alliance at Brown University has been awarded a one-year $70,000 grant from The Rhode Island Foundation to support the development of “The Education Leadership Academy in Cultural Competency”. This year long professional development program will engage 10 current and prospective education leaders from Providence, Pawtucket, and Central Falls to apply a cultural competency framework to the policy and practices that affect the teaching and learning environments that exist in their schools.
