 Offering a case study of the Haitian literacy program at a public high school in Boston, Massachusetts, the program teaches literacy and numeracy skills to high-school age students with limited formal schooling. This publication includes an historical overview of literacy programs in Boston for students with limited formal schooling and provides background on the Haitian student population in Boston. It goes on to give a detailed description of the goals and instructional approach of the Hyde Park High School Haitian literacy program and discusses measures of student success within the Haitian Literacy Program, in high school generally and in higher education.
