Michael Lipinski

Michael Lipinski, who has over twenty years' experience teaching elementary school students in all subject areas, is presently a computer integration specialist at the Erving Elementary School. For the past two years, he has also been serving as an Online Fellow at The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, PA. An early advocate for integrating computers into elementary schools, Mr. Lipinski has extensive experience in developing age-appropriate technology skills and is an expert on the use of computers to enhance student learning across the curriculum.

Selected as the IBM and Classroom Computer Learning, Massachusetts and New England Regional Computer Teacher of the Year in 1989, Mr. Lipinski keeps himself busy during school vacations. He has participated in a number of National Science Foundation summer programs and institutes, both as a participant and an instructor. Most recently, he served as the technology coordinator for Conscious Creations: Computers, Minds and Society, a two year NSF institute at St. Paul's School in Concord, NH. He has also participated in SummerMath for Teachers (Mount Holyoke College), NEWEST (NASA, Houston), Project TEME (Greenfield Community College), The Project for Products, Processes and Technology (Simmons College), Math Connection (Greenfield Community College), SPACEMET (Amherst College) and as a NSF SCI-MAT Fellow for Independent Study in the Humanities. Mr. Lipinski is the webmaster of the Erving Elementary School Web site, located at http://www.erving.com. The site was a grand-prize winner in the International Cyberfair 96. The Erving Elementary School was selected as a Massachusetts Technology Lighthouse School in 1997, 1998, and 1999. Mr. Lipinski is responsible for all Lighthouse programs at the school.
