Purpose of this Website
The teaching force of Rhode Island continues to be highly homogeneous. At the same time, there is a growing need in our state for highly qualified teachers who share the range of cultural and linguistic experiences of our diverse student population. To support the agenda of bringing more teachers of minority backgrounds into teaching, this website offers information, tools, and other resources to the three groups most directly involved in addressing the goal of a more diverse teaching force:
- prospective and aspiring minority teachers;
- school and district administrators;
- higher education professionals.
